"Real Housewives of New York" cast member files for divorce

The fame, glitz and glam can be rewarding for celebrities, public figures and reality stars, but having their every move constantly reported on can be detrimental. This is especially true when marital problems occur and divorce is imminent. A high asset divorce is already complex, but with the public eye watching and commenting on their every move, divorcing couples can endure additional difficulties.

It was recently reported that a star of the "Real Housewives of New York" filed for divorce from her husband. Ramona Singer seeks to end her twenty plus year marriage after she allegedly caught her husband with a girlfriend at one of the couple's homes located in the Hamptons. Cast members of the show stated Singer had been looking the other way after hearing numerous accounts of her husband cheating.

Although the New York County Clerk's office confirmed that a divorce case has been opened for the couple, Singer has yet to confirm this information publicly. She has asked her fans to respect her privacy during a difficult time, especially since she has a daughter involved in the situation.

High asset divorces can be very complex because the couple owns property and their assets and debts need to be valuated and distributed. In some cases, these matters can be settled before the marriage. A well-drafted prenuptial agreement could serve the divorcing couple well, but sometimes couples neglect to address all divorce legal issues.

The divorce process often involves disputes, emotions and complex decision-making. Those struggling with a high asset divorce should ensure they are making informed decisions. Seeking advice and gaining assistance from a family law attorney could be very beneficial, especially when a divorcing couple is finding it difficult to reach a divorce settlement.
