Resolving disputes creatively

Bruce and Kris Jenner mutually agree on asset division

New York residents may agree that high-asset divorces often tend to be highly contentious because of the large amount of money that is at stake. In fact, it isn't difficult to come up with some examples of high-profile couples - the Hamms and the Griffins - who recently ended their marriages with the asset division agreements going into millions or billions of dollars. Surprisingly, even after such huge settlements, the parties were not satisfied and chose to pursue further action to obtain more money.

Considering such a state of affairs, it is another surprise that a high-profile couple - from the entertainment world this time - recently mutually agreed on dividing assets that would easily hit the million dollar mark. The people involved in this divorce are Bruce and Kris Jenner. The couple separated in October, 2013, and Kris Jenner filed divorce papers in September, 2014. To the surprise of many, the divorce was finalized, along with asset division, within three months.

Divorce documents obtained by the news media show that the couple opted for an amicable division of the various assets that are a part of their luxurious lifestyle. These assets include homes, vehicles, funds, business, furniture and artwork and even airline miles. The couple also has two daughters, 18 and 17 years old. While the adult child will not be a part of the custody agreement, the Jenners agreed to share joint custody of the minor child, along with the agreement that neither ex-spouse would seek monetary support.

The Jenners' divorce is probably a good example of how a high net worth divorce can be finalized without the nasty disputes that are often seen in such cases. However, along with the willingness to separate amicably, there must also be adequate legal guidance regarding the various aspects of a divorce. Since divorce-related legal issues may not be a strong point for many high-profile couples, it may be a sensible decision to hire an attorney who is experienced at handling divorces with many millions of dollars at stake.
