Robin D. Carton

Robin D. Carton is a partner in the law firm of Carton & Rosoff PC, and her private practice has primarily focused on child custody, visitation, matrimonial law, collaborative divorce, divorce and custody mediation, and adoption.

Ms. Carton has presented, lectured, and published extensively on the role of the attorney for the child and on best practices in family law litigation. She earned her J.D. degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1981. Court Appointments

For more than 20 years, Ms. Carton has been appointed by the Family and Supreme Courts in Westchester and Putnam Counties to serve as attorney for the child.  She is in the fourth term of her tenure as president of the Law Guardian Association of Westchester County, an organization comprised of attorneys dedicated to effective child advocacy. Ms. Carton has also been appointed by the Westchester County and Putnam County Supreme and Surrogate's Courts as referee, guardian, guardian ad litem, and court evaluator.

Board Memberships

She is on the board of directors of the NY Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), serves on the executive board of the Association of Collaborative Lawyers of Rockland-Westchester, and is vice president of the Westchester Women's Bar Association Charitable Foundation.

Associations and Professional Organizations

Ms. Carton is a member of various professional organizations and their family law sections, including the NYS Bar Association, Westchester County Bar Association, and Westchester Women's Bar Association.  She is a founding member of the Association of Collaborative Lawyers of Rockland-Westchester, and a member of the NY Association of Collaborative Professionals, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater NY, and the Justice Brandeis Westchester Law Society. Ms. Carton also serves on the Appellate Division’s Mental Health Professionals Screening Committee, the Pace Women's Justice Center Moderate Means Panel, the Westchester County Youth Advisory Board, the Law Guardian Liaison Committee, the Family Treatment Court and Juvenile Treatment Court Planning Committees, Courts Catalyzing Change, and numerous other committees and projects dedicated to educating attorneys and litigants about family dispute resolution.

David M. Rosoff

David M. Rosoff has extensive experience in divorce litigation, mediation, and collaborative divorce.  An attorney for over 30 years, he is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, their federal district courts and courts of appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.  He earned his J.D. degree from Rutgers Law School in 1979 and his Master of Laws (L.L.M.) from New York University School of Law in 1985. 

Court Appointments

Mr. Rosoff has served as court-appointed attorney for the child in custody, juvenile delinquency, neglect and abuse, person in need of supervision, and family offense matters.  He has also served as court-appointed counsel for litigants in custody, neglect and abuse, family offense, adoption, and support proceedings.  He has also been appointed by the Surrogate's Court, Supreme Court, and Family Court as guardian ad litem, referee, court evaluator, and attorney for the incapacitated person.
