Famous rapper arrested for failure to pay child support

Minnesota residents would agree that divorce comes as a blow to the children. While spouses can look forward to a better life after the divorce, the children are often haunted by feelings of insecurity. Hence, in the best interest of the child, courts in the country, including those in Minnesota, award child custody to one parent and order the other to pay child support. It is mandatory to pay child support in the United States. Anybody who fails to do so is penalized. Yet, there are times when non-custodial parents fail to pay child support. Celebrity parents are no exception to this rule.

Famous Rapper DMX has to appear in court because he failed to pay child support. The 44-year-old singer allegedly owes $400,000 in child support payments. Before going to court, the popular rapper greeted his fans. The rapper managed to come up with his $25,000 bail but he was put behind bars again for failing to pay a previous bail order in Westchester County.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was about to perform on stage at the time he was arrested. At the time of his arrest, he appeared drunk; however, the charges against him were dismissed. The rapper also has a criminal record, which only seems to add to his tough reputation.

The rapper reportedly has 12 children with various women. There have been repeated charges of his not paying child support. Two years ago, the singer filed for bankruptcy, saying that child support payments were draining him. In 2014, a judge ordered that $15,000 be taken out of his earnings at Universal Music Group. The earnings went to his former wife, who is also the mother of four of his children.
