Navigating the child custody process

For any divorcing couple, the issue of child custody can be very stressful and emotionally taxing. Decisions about child custody generally cover who the custodial parent will be and who has legal custody, among other issues. It is not often an enjoyable process, but decisions must be made.

This is because child custody is determined with the best interests of the child in mind. The court wants to be sure the custody arrangement is in the best interests of the child and that the parents both agree to uphold it. If parents disagree about how the custody should be handled, it is important to gather evidence as to why your interests are in the better interests of the child.

Of course, courts will take parent testimony into consideration. However, it is the best interests of the child take precedence. As our client, your claim for custody is our priority at Carton & Rosoff PC. We take child custody and the arrangement very seriously and want the best for you and your family.

Becoming the custodial parent is often the goal of many of our clients. Since this grants the parent the majority of the physical custody and parenting time it is very important that families stay together through a divorce. The bond between parent and child is very strong and we will do everything possible to keep families together especially when it is in the best interests of the child. Child custody is not something for parents to take lightly and many White Plains parents are well aware of this fact.
